The MP3 Experiment, hosted and created by Improv Everywhere, is a wonderful event in which hundreds of people gather in one place wearing solid colored t-shirts, and plug in their headphones to listen to a predetermined song and perform funny instructions. Do you remember last years? Brian came with me this time and we had a blast.
We shook hands with strangers, dosey-doed, gave them thumbs up, followed random people in straight lines, laughed at people standing in a ridiculously long bathroom line, had periodical nap times, and listened to a strange story about baseball bats, bullies, wolves, and boys all named Peter.
It was finally time for our epic battle, similar to the epic balloon battle in last years. We split off into two teams, green and blue, and red and yellow. Folks handed out cheap inflatable plastic hammers to the green and blue team, and cheap inflatable plastic bats, both of which inexplicably had CHINA printed on the bottom in big black letters. War cries were made and we rushed off to wack the shit out people. It was pretty amazing how excited everyone was.
Woah, woah, woah! Why must we always attack each other with plastic weapons every MP3 Experiment? asked Steve, the narrator who led us through the entire game. We broke all color barriers by taking our shirts off to reveal white ones underneath (new to the MP3 Experiment) and defeat a common enemy- an evil wolf that was tied into the strange story we listened to. It was really just a dude in a cheesy wolf costume. We battered him with our plastic bats and hammers until he fell and died. It sure was a lot of fun.
